JK Rowling, the celebrated author of the path breaking Harry Potter book has his name written in the annals of literary history. All world, of all age groups and across geographical boundaries has been touched by the charm of this magical story. The Harry Potter books can boast to claim the number one position on top of The New York Times, USA Today and The Wall Street Journal bestseller. The latest in the series, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, is no exception.
It would be appropriate here to give a little history of the author of these books. Joanne Rowling was born in Chipping Sodbury near Bristol, England. After studying at Exeter University, she began working as a secretary, then transferred to teach English in Portugal. She currently resides in Scotland with her husband and three children. His most notable achievements include winning Hugo Award, Bram Stoker Award and the Whitbread Award for Best Children's book.
It was in 1998 in the United States as Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's has been published. With that, we attended the Potter-mania engulfing the entire nation, with both children and parents who wish to read the same books! The remainder is released in quick succession, and by fall 1999, two new books came out. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire was released July 8, 2000 and within 48 hours of its release, has sold nearly three million copies, became the best-selling book in history! This title has been claimed by Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix when it was released June 21, 2003.
Warner Bros., the film production company has the right to create movies all the Harry Potter books released so far. The Harry Potter books by JK Rowling has been translated into 63 languages and distributed in more than 200 countries. In addition, all five books released so far have appeared in the list of bestsellers in the United States, Great Britain, and around the globe.
