The Rounders film shows two friends try to work together to repay what is for them a massive debt, leading to all sorts of problems and questions pair. Today, nothing has changed with players tying to make profits or ground breaking as the characters played by Matt Damon and Edward Norton to repay debt.
As for the card rooms and underground hazards and violence viewed in Rounders, more than one player in the world is are in risk situations with no return. The film for some players is a daily reality for many poker players in the world could be avoided all together with a kind of thinking. Players in trouble in the world today have different support systems and a guide on bankroll management to avoid these situations.
The bad guys in poker will always be hiding in the card rooms underground illegal though, regardless of laws or possible outcomes. Simply, it seems that legal casinos and the rooms are simply not enough for them, they seem to thrive on unnecessary risks and the company goes with such risks.
As history portrays Rounders, without security Law rooms online casinos and many activities unethical poker occur. Collusion, cheating, beating the list could be endless. It is no surprise to anyone that there are laws on gambling and casino for a reason! Fancy heads up with a Mafia Don? Win or lose against him your dead meat outside your country, the national security measures and, in fact, there is nothing you can do about it. You made the bed, you throw it, both characters Rounders. There indeed may be a point of no return.
If we are not worried about the threat of violence, incurring debts and other risks associated with playing the game limit laws then maybe we should worry about the law itself. I do not know what legal complications may have been involved for Mike McDermott Worm and its mate, but these days they are huge. Not just for gamers illegal but of course for the card room "couriers" too. Get caught, get prosecuted with the full force of law. It really makes one wonder what is benefit there is for all who wish to be involved in these activities.
I suppose the Rounders movie shows us some benefits games of chance constrained by our laws of the game worldwide. We must weigh these benefits against their opponents.
Taxes would be one. For a professional player a playroom illegal does not hold records of earnings (and their own income and expense from as far away as possible from the sight). Winning on a daily level, in a playroom unauthorized can be beneficial for tax evaders. On the other hand, tax avoidance just adds your list of criminal activity is not advised.
In the illegal card rooms rake is much less. Rake can be a killer in what casinos with gambling providing legal services such as dealers, waitresses drink / server environment and a poker perfect including security and in all a brilliant atmosphere.
