New York has the Empire State Building, and Washington DC has the Washington and Lincoln memorials. Almost every large American city can boast of at least one major masterpiece of architecture. In San Francisco, that emblem is the Golden Gate Bridge, recognized as one span steel the most graceful in the world. Despite the bridge can be accessed from points around San Francisco, the outlook is better to withdraw from Golden Gate National Recreation Area. Surrounding the bay from San Francisco, the GGNRA is one of the most visited units of the national park system. Over 13 million people come to this area each year to see the big red bridge, among other activities.
The Park is deceptively large, as it is not an aspect of land adjacent but rather a series of parks that runs from northern San Mateo County Down in southern Marin County. It runs along 59 miles of the coast. The GGNRA should not be confused, However, with the Golden Gate Park, which is managed by the city of San Francisco as a separate entity.
